How to Have A Happy Day

How to have a happy day!

Nothing will change your mood like being proactive. There must be something you can do to get your mood motor running properly. There is! These simple steps are worth trying if you’re in a bad mood or just feeling melancholy.

  1. Write down some things you can do, that should be done that day. I use a 3×5 card and carry it with me. My goal is to have everything on it checked off before the day ends.

2. Some projects need timelines and may not be completed in one day. That’s all right you are chipping away at something that needs to be done.

3. Projects that can be completed quickly should be tackled early. This will give you a sense of satisfaction as you proceed on to other projects. This may be phone calls, house cleaning, letters, etc…

4. Beware of time robbers, phone calls that drag on, TV, computer games, unexpected visitors. In some cases you have no choice but to talk to them but it is wise to let them know you only have so much time.

5. Don’t get sidetracked. You will find, as you tackle your to do list, other things will come to mind that need to be done. Be sure to write them down and rather than get derailed from your list unless it is something urgent that calls for immediate attention.

6. I find it helpful to do this weekly and therefore I put together a weekly to do list. It helps me anticipate the week. Preparation produces anticipation and anticipation is a positive feeling! When you have finished the things that need to be done it helps you enjoy doing other things. There is nothing worse than going on vacation thinking about work the whole time! Unfinished work will rob the joy out of your vacation!

7.I would like to add that scheduling time with God should be a priority in your to do list. The benefits will outweigh the time you spent with the Lord! He will remind you of things that need to be done as well as give you the strength to do what needs to be done!

I know this works even if the day starts drearily you can change it by being proactive! Remember you don’t have to feel good, to do good, but you have to do good to really feel good! Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established– Proverbs 4:26
